Speech Read by Raila Odinga was IMPRESSIVE!!
By Mwakenya
The speech writteng by Anyang' Nyong'o read by Raila Odinga was very very impressive, but out of character with the man Raila Odinga, and in some instances outrightly contradictory to his persona. The speech outlines what every Kenyan yearns, Raila or no Raila. Issues that have been pounded in bars, homes, online fora etc, etc, etc.
Granted that if the same speech were to be read by Kalonzo Musyoka, or Najib Balala or the corrupt William Ruto, it would have swayed any well meaning kenya and spurred them to action and evoked the same emotions. It was like a well prepared sermon, that touches the very chord of our suffering, and at the climax of the emotional connection and stirring, an ALTER CALL is made for "vote for me."
The reason why the speech does not fit the man Raila Odinga, where doubts of it being effected by him, or used as the Memorandum of Understanding with the electorate is because it is fraut with contadictions. Here is why:
First Raila dragged us down the painful recollection our historical political failures and how the country retrogressed from the get go and how he has consistently condemned those who plundered the country over the years UNDER KANU and THE OLD GUARD yet in the Anyang' Nyong'o speech he states:
"Those of us who worked for the Second Liberation formed the Forum for the Restoration of Democracy in 1991. That group suffered a split and most of us who had been there from the start moved on into Ford-Kenya. When it became clear there, again, that some of our original principles were being subsumed by personal ambition, those of us of like mind became members of the National Development Party, which eventually went into a merger with the then ruling party, Kanu."
Hello? Is KANU not the reason why many fighters for liberty lost their lives? It like saying the MAFIA has been extorting me for too long, I will just join it to be at peace. THIS PARAGRAPH IS THE ANTITHESIS OF THE FREEDOM STRUGGLE AND THE EPITOME OF THE INSINCERITY OF RAILA ODINGA! This paragraph hit me hard. Can you trust this man? The man who gave the Moi government a clean bill of health. Had he suffered a memory lapse when he joined KANU in politicals of expediency and self aggrandisement? Have Kenyans forgotten this betrayal? Is the same KANU oppressor still not part of ODM-Kenya?
The Anyang' Nyong'o speech reads (or Raila preaches water) "In my government, key personnel in the Kenya Revenue Authority, the Central Bank, the ministry of finance and so on will reflect the face of the country. Institutions will not be packed with my tribesmen and friends. The governing principles in making appointments will be merit, accountability and diversity." Yet it was not too far when Raila was filling Nyanza parliamentary seats with his RELATIVES and friends, throwing out earstwhile contenders to the seat and peoples choices. For instance: Hon. Jakoyo Midiwo - first cousin (Mothers are sisters) ; Hon. Gor Sunguh - brother-in-law (married to oburu's daughter); Hon. Dr. Oburu Odínga - brother; Hon. Odhiambo Omamba - "father in law"(father to Ida); Hon. Ochilo Ayako - Relative from Sakwa Bondo who migrated to South Nyanza; Hon. Sammy Weya - First cousin (Son of his uncle); Hon. Otieno Kajwang -Sycophant and personal lawyer; Hon Reuben Ndolo- son of former jaramogi's entertainer; Hon Peter Owidi- who bought the parliamentary seat by paying Raíla KSH4million after loosing the nomination to Paddy Aenda.
With such influence on a party nomination, imagine how much neptosim would be practised if he had national executive power.
The Nyong'o speech also eloquently talks about mercenaries, compromising the countrys' security thus: Among our priorities will be anti-terrorism efforts, along with properly structured and effective security at our airports (we want no more Artur incidents in future!) and truly secure port facilities and inland depots. Raila should first tell the nation why world reknown MERCENARIES sit at the board of Spectre International and have controlling stake in the country. Members of the board at Spectre International include former SAS officer Tony Buckingham a partner in mercenary groups like Sandline International, Executive Outcomes. Tony Teixeira, a Portuguese born South African citizen whose company Lyndhurst arms and offered logistic support to UNITA in exchange for diamond mining rights in clear violation of UN ARMS EMBARGO to Angola. Colonel Tim Spicer
Colonel Tim Spicer who founded the mercenary group named Crisis and Risk Management Ltd. which became Strategic Counseling International which later became Trident Maritime, companies that have gross human rights violations GLOBALLY! Colonel Spicer had an unsuccessful takeover mission of the Panguna Copper Mine in Papua New Guinea which led to a revolution. Spicer was arrested by the army and prosecuted. He was later released on the behest of the British government. Colonel Spicer was also involved in the Equatorial Guinea coup attempt. He had teamed up with Mark Thatcher and others in the mission. However the mission was discovered when a plane carrying mercenaries from South Africa was intercepted in Zimbabwe. Simon Mann a Dog of War that will do anything for money, is a founder member of Sandline. He was involved in the bloody Sierra Leone war. Mann was arrested in Zimbabwe over the Equatorial Guinea coup attempt.
And these are the board members and major stake holders at Raila Odingas Spectre International. How much or our country would he be selling to such individuals if he had the power to?
Mr. Nyong'o speech are read by Raila quoted Gandhi's caution against seven ills that we must guard against lest we are destroyed as a country. These are:
* politics without principle;
* pleasure without conscience;
* wealth without work;
* knowledge without character;
* business without morality;
* science without humanity,
* and worship without sacrifice.
Of these seven ills Raila falls short in the most significant one viz. POLITICS WITHOUT PRINCIPLE!
Mr Ayang' Nyong'o prepared a brilliant speech about the FUTURE ALL KENYANS DREAM OF, but is Mr. Raila Odinga the right man to deliver this dream.
